One of the assignments in Sunday School was to design posters as exhibits outside the church. The corporal and spritual works of mercy were among the topics given.
The seven Corporal Works (Acts) of Mercy are as follows.
1. Feed the hungry
2. Give drink to the thirsty
3. Clothe the naked
4. Shelter the Homeless
5. Visit the sick
6. Visit the imprisoned
7. Bury the dead
These works of mercy are a guide for us to show kindness (mercy) to human kind and to tend to the bodily needs of our neighbours. It also serves to remind us about the two greatest commandments:
1. I am the Lord your God and you shall not have strange gods before me.
2. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
The seven Spiritual Works of Mercy provide for the needs of the spirit.1. Instruct the ignorant
2. Counsel the doubtful
3. Admonish the sinner
4. Bear wrongs patiently
5. Forgive offenses willingly
6. Comfort the sorrowful
7. Pray for the living and the dead
