Sr Odelia

5 March 2009 ~ Today I met Sr Odelia again. I think it was about 15 years ago when I last saw her. She is a blind lady by birth and is staying in a small house in St Teresa's School compound (behind the kindergarten). I used to visit her as part of my assignment when I was an active Legion of Mary member. Sometime back, I did wonder how she is or where she is. Maybe the Lord has heard me.

She was walking out of her house with a cane (stick) when I was on my way to collect a Primary 1 registration form. At first, I was indecisive as to whether to approach her or not. So, I say a little silent prayer in my heart and gotten enough courage to greet her. As she could not see me, she was taken aback when I called her name. I quickly introduced myself and held her hand. She was going to the school canteen to buy some food for her breakfast and lunch. As we walked hand-in-hand, she asked me a lot of questions about my work, family, etc. I bought fried eggs, porridge and peanut kuih for her and helped her back to her little house.

She invited me to visit her again during my free time. I will do my very best to spend some time with her whenever I can. Just imagine how lonely one can be living in a dark and quiet world. She was very happy that I still remembered her. I felt very good too, for I have bring cheer and joy to Sr Odelia today. Within me, I can feel that I have passed the test. :-)

May God bless her and send more "Angels" to be with Sr Odelia.
